You will drive and camp on the creek where the camping area is for the trail competition. (See directions when I get them up) We want to have a meeting with the participants to get to know you and discuss your working clinic weekend and practice on some roping skills. If you don't have a camper, check with me for rooms in the ranch guest house.
Saturday March 29 - Everyone will load up and haul out to where we will ride and be ready to ride by 9. We will divide into several groups and ride out across the hills to the back end and gather the cows and calves and herd them towards the corrals. Each group will have one of the experienced cow hands with them and will be instructed on gathering, hearding and moving cattle over the hills and canyons. We will have lunch when we get the cattle to the corrals.
We will then do some sorting the calves away from cows and work some calves. You will get an opportunity to get right in and help with sorting, branding, vaccinating, castrating, working a chute or some roping. We will work until it is quiting time around 5 because we have a dinner to get back to at 7 and you don't want to make the cooks wait for you.
Sunday March 30th. Be ready to start work at the corrals by 9. Bring the cattle into the sorting pens and sort the calves off and then get to work on the calves. We will break for lunch work a little bit longer and quit around 3-4.
If you really don't care if you help work calves. Let me know and if there are several who don't want to work calves I will arrange a trail ride.
March 15th or 22nd (still deciding) TRAIL RIDE/CONDITIONING CLINIC COST $50 LIMITED to 15 riders Working on more details still. You will ride with me over the ranch.
